American Heart Association
Millions of people are at risk of suffering a heart attack or stroke, but the American Heart Association is hoping to change that. The organization funds innovative research for new treatments while providing programs and services for survivors and families.

Cornerstone of Care is dedicated to helping children and families wherever they are, whenever they need us. Our team provides in-home and in-community services throughout the region. DeVaughn James and Kake News partnered together to benefit the Wichita region that Cornerstone of Care Services.
Wichita Animal Action League – WAAL
Each year, The Wichita Animal Action League helps hundreds of pets and their owners. The group says it tries to be there for the countless animals who are abused, neglected and abandoned. The Wichita Animal Action League was honored by DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers with a $500 Wins for Kansas grant.
It Takes a Village
Roughly 7,000 kids are in Kansas foster homes. Without a traditional family structure, it can be hard for these kids to take the next step into becoming independent adults. Kids involved with It Takes A Village are required to set goals, finish school, hold down a job, and save money for their future.
Crime Stoppers of Wichita
Early on the Crime Stopper reenactments proved to help police in solving crimes and catching suspects. Over the years, it has paid close to 285 thousand dollars in rewards and made 2,657 arrests. Hummell, says, “It’s truly a partnership between the community law enforcement and the media.”
The Salvation Army helps thousands of people in Kansas every year and that red kettle is a sight as familiar as Christmas lights. While the organization raises a lot of its money during the holiday season, it uses the money year round to provide food and clothing for people in need.
Kansas Honor Flight
If you’ve not seen a Kansas Honor Flight welcome home, you’ve missed what it means to be an American. Over the years, more than 17 veterans have been honored. After an all-paid trip to Washington D.C. to tour the nations war memorials, the veterans arrive home to a heroes’ welcome.
Operating in Wichita for almost 30 years, hundreds of pregnant teenage girls have found a home, thanks to the generosity of the Gerard House. Many of the girls who come through the door, never thought they’d end up there, but find Gerard House is a safe haven for pregnant teens.
Air Capital Flyers
We are a not-for-profit organization that exists to help enrich the lives of very special athletes through competitive sports. Our goal is for all persons with intellectual disabilities to have the chance to become useful and productive citizens who are accepted and respected in their communities.
Youth for Christ
Youth for Christ is a faith-based nonprofit that operates out of an old Wichita elementary school. They provide educational opportunities for select Sedgwick County students, in a safe and caring situation, and also speak to their behavioral, and social needs.
Hope for Hemophilia
Hope for Hemophilia is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to be a giver of hope, strength and resources. We have been helping people living with hemophilia and their families through seasons of crisis since 2009 with financial, emotional and practical support.
Little Blessings Miniature Horse Therapy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our goal is to bring joy to those most in need in the Wichita metro area utilizing specially trained Miniature Therapy Horses. Little Blessings visits hospitals, nursing homes, cancer centers, grief counseling centers, and many other settings.
Blue Sky Ranch
Blue Sky Ranch in Haysville, KS runs strong with people and horses who specialize in giving the gift of hope and healing. Founded by Paul and Tammy White and their daughter Camber, BSR connects people in need of healing and hope to mentors, horses and equine therapists.
Medical Loan Closet
The Medical Loan Closet of Wichita serves the community by loaning durable medical equipment to the under served and those with insurance issues. The primary source of the DME comes from Wichita and the surrounding area. These generous donations have made the Medical Loan Closet’s assistance to the under served possible.

Neighboring Movement.org by SoCe Life researches, practices and teaches about neighboring. We are seeking out neighboring initiatives around the country to study the best practices of good neighboring. We aim to live out good neighboring in our community, the South Central (SoCe) neighborhood of Wichita, KS.
Heartspring is a 37-acre campus serving more than 1,200 kids a year. Parents with autistic and special needs children can often get frustrated, but there’s a special place here in Wichita that has been bringing hope to Kansas families for more than 80 years.

At Wichita Fellowship Club, we provide a “sober” alcohol and drug-free house and other facilities for living and recreation for those persons addicted to alcohol and desiring to change their lives and become sober.

The Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation honors a select group of men and women from cities or regions across the country that are committed to professional growth through a guided fundraising and awareness 8 week campaign. The Wine Opener will be held on September 29, 2016 with over 15 tasting and 20 wine tasting stations, many auction items secured by our candidates, along with great music.

The Fundamental Learning Center is a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit located in Wichita, KS that addresses academic survival and dyslexia. This organization is the only teaching facility accredited in the Midwest focused on the continuum of transferring spoken language to the art of reading, writing and spelling. We offer programs that not only provide early literacy intervention for dyslexics, also build their confidence by focusing on their innate strengths and gifts in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math.

Wichita Celiac Support Association
We are the Wichita chapter of the Celiac Sprue Association. Celiac disease is a genetic disorder. In people with celiac disease, eating certain types of protein, called gluten, sets off an autoimmune response that causes damage to the small intestine. This causes the small intestine to lose its ability to absorb the nutrients found in food, leading to malnutrition and a variety of other complications. There is no cure. The only treatment is a lifelong adherence to a gluten-free diet.
The Wichita Area Technical College Foundation offers opportunities for the community to become involved with the college and students other than taking a class. The Foundation supports educational programs and offers increased opportunities for students and the community to become involved through private gifts and corporate contributions.

DeafKAN’s goal is to promote sign language and Deaf culture by providing family-friendly events for the WHOLE family to experience Deaf culture and encourage them to use sign language TOGETHER. We bring Deaf performers and artists to Wichita and create opportunities for our deaf and hard of hearing kids to interact with awesome, positive Deaf role models.

Lifeline Animal Placement and Protection, Inc. (LAPP) is a Wichita, Kansas based non-profit animal rescue and adoption kennel. Volunteers have dedicated their time and hearts to save animals that have been abandoned, abused or were relinquished by their owners. LAPP tries to rescue animals from other over-flowing shelters to save them from being euthanized. The kennel does not euthanize animals.

Midwest Battle Buddies / Complete K9 in 2009 to serve the Wichita area, and has now expanded to include the Hutchinson/Newton areas. Toney began his canine career while working as a groomer for almost three years and worked for Kustom K9 in Independence, KS as a basic obedience instructor.
Wichita Center for the Arts
Originally founded as the Wichita Art Association in 1920, The Wichita Center for the Arts is the area’s oldest and most comprehensive visual and performing arts organization. For more than 90 years the Center has made art and art education available to the citizens of Wichita and the surrounding communities. A privately funded organization, the Center generates tickets sales and tuition.
League of Women Voters
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization, open to both women and men, encouraging the informed and active participation of citizens in government. It influences public policy through education and advocacy. LWV has been educating for democracy since 1920.
Black Women Empowered
Black Women Empowered has been helping women in Wichita heal since 2012. The group works to promote healing through counseling, friendships, and referrals. Black Women Empowered was honored by DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers with a $500 Wins for Kansas grant.
EAA started out as a small flying club, but over the years its changed and grown. With 1,600 international chapters, Wichita’s chapter 88 is proud to serve the air capitol. In 1992 the group also set out to give more than 1 million children a ride on a plane. It recent past, more than 2 million kids.
Embrace offers care and counseling for parents, as well as pregnancy and STD testing. The non-profit has had to turn away families in need because it operates solely on donations, and sometimes, there’s just not enough to go around. Embrace was honored by DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers with a $500 Wins for Kansas grant.
Emerald City Chorus
This all-female chorus is better than pitch-perfect, it’s been singing on key across Kansas for more than 10 years. Today the Emerald City Chorus is made up of dozens of women. Along with performing a cappella and four-part harmony music, they also sing barbershop style music.
Rise Up for Youth
Rise Up For Youth started in 2005 as a mentoring and gang prevention program for young men in Wichita, but the program soon spread. In 2014, the organization was formed. The organization is now working in four Wichita high schools where their volunteers mentor at-risk youth.
Let’s Rock and Roll and Change the World, Inc.
Let’s Rock and Roll and Change the World, Inc. is a Wichita, Kansas based nonprofit that is helping our city’s homeless. Working with a small team of volunteers, Johnson is hoping to go beyond offering just food and clothing. The organization accepts donations in the mail as well as online.
Quilts of Valor
Each patriotic quilt is hand made by volunteers. The work and detail that goes into these quilts is important. That because when it’s finished, they are given to veterans. Lisa Conner is with Quilts of Valor Wichita. She says almost as rewarding as making a quilt is presenting it.
The late Wichita jazz man with a smooth voice and guitar skills left behind an enormous amount of fans, as well as a legacy that continues to help musicians. Performance Artist Trust Fund or PAT fund now raises money through its annual “PAT Bash” event.
Project Laundry is a Wichita non-profit group helping with an everyday cost that many people take for granted. Every few weeks, the group puts up flyers inviting the public to a local washateria to wash and dry their clothes for free. There are no requirements other than a need.
Old Cowtown Vintage Baseball
At the Old Cowtown Museum, two hometown rivals take to the field. The Red Stockings and the Bulldozers really did play in Wichita in the late 1800s. Along with the vintage uniforms and equipment, the game rules are also old-school. There’s no gloves, just a courteous game of baseball.
Senior Services has made a positive difference in the lives of seniors of all ages since 1968. We provide recreation, life-enriching events, meaningful employment, caregiver support, health and nutrition, yoga class, mentor program, social gathering and much more.
Ronald McDonald House Charities Wichita
Families are stronger when they are together, and their presence helps a sick child heal faster and cope better. Last year, Ronald McDonald House Charities Wichita supported over 1700 families, all because of the love and generous donations of our donors and volunteers.

Harbor House at Catholic Charities exists to help break the cycle of violence against women and their children. Through shelter, support and compassion, Harbor House works with women and their children, as well as men to help them realize a life free from abuse and envision a future filled with promise and hope.
United Methodist Church in Leon
United Methodist Church in Leon is sending kids to summer camp. “Our initiative is to send every kid to camp without the cost to them or their families”. You can see the excitement on their young faces. A full week away from home to swim, play and camp in the great outdoors.
Children’s Miracle Network, Via Christi Regional Medical Center houses 1,532 beds for both children and adults. CMN as its known, helps families with seriously sick children by helping them pay for things like medication, equipment, and even travel expenses.

Crime Stoppers of Reno County encourages members of the community to assist local law enforcement in the fight against crime by overcoming the two key elements that inhibit community involvement: fear and apathy. Crime Stoppers provides an anonymous telephone tipsline and can take tips via the Web and by Text Messaging to encourage citizens in the community to volunteer vital information helpful to law enforcement in the fight against crime.
The Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County
The Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County is founded on the belief that no single agency or professional alone can serve and treat child abuse — a multidisciplinary team response is necessary. The Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County partner agency staff/service providers are highly trained professionals dedicated to working with child victims of abuse and their caregivers.

The American Red Cross of Kansas proudly serves communities across the state of Kansas. The American Red Cross also provides vital services to the area 365 days a year—from responding to home fires in local neighborhoods to teaching first aid and CPR to community groups.
The Lord’s Diner
The Lord’s Diner exists to combat hunger in the community. The Diner’s singular mission is to serve a nutritious meal with dignity and respect to anyone who is hungry. The Lord’s Diner serves an evening meal 365 days a year. A small paid staff, assisted by more than 6,000 volunteers representing many faiths and denominations prepare and serve a hot, nutritious meal in a spirit of compassion, respect and loving service.

Hope Ranch is dedicated to empowering women who have been exploited and abused to rise above their circumstances and become whole in mind, body, and soul.
Camp Quality serves children with cancer and their families by providing year-round programs, experiences, and companionship at no cost. Camp Quality promotes hope and inspiration while helping children foster life skills and develop their full potential. Our vision is that all children with cancer and their families find joy and hope through shared experiences and an ongoing support system.
Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run of Sedgwick County – a life changing, non-profit prevention program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade. Our mission: “We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.” We teach life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.
The Treehouse offers mothers and babies a brighter future through sharing God’s love, basic necessities, education and genuine personal care. Founded in 2002 by the Orthodox Christian Ministries, Inc., The Treehouse serves about 2,600 women in Wichita, Kansas each year.
The Alzheimer’s Association, Central and Western Kansas Office, provides vital services and support to individuals, caregivers and families. We serve 68 counties in Kansas. Their aim is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
The Center of Hope
The Center of Hope provides emergency financial support to individuals and families in Wichita who may not otherwise qualify for other social service programs.
Passageways Living Center is a private, faith-based nonprofit organization providing solution-based ministry to the homeless and near homeless Veteran population in the Wichita area. Our mission is to assist the Veterans who come through our program to meet the goals they set and provide them with the means to find a place to call home.
The mission of Bridget’s Cradles is to bless families by providing a knitted cradle for babies born into Heaven during the second trimester of pregnancy. Bridget’s Cradles also seeks to provide support to families during the bereavement and grieving process and to raise awareness about pregnancy loss to the general public.
The Wichita Independents
The Wichita Independents are a not-for-profit organization, not associated with any public service, relying on an all volunteer staff, donations, and fund raisers. We provide competitive sporting activities for handicapped children and adults. The sporting events are designed so any and all athletes can compete. The Wichita Independents participate in Special Olympics regional and state tournaments.
Hickory Hollow Animal Refuge Foundation
Hickory Hollow Animal Refuge Foundation is a shelter for abused and abandoned animals to stay while searching for a forever home! These animals are looking for homes that will take them in as another family member. Dogs and cats can be adopted to homes that have fenced in yards, and if you passed qualifications for the certain animal. We will do vet checks and home checks after adoption. We want these animals to have forever homes! All of our pets are vet checked and spayed/neutered.
The YWCA Wichita is a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation that began operations in Wichita, Kansas in 1907 as a chartered member of the YWCA USA.
The YWCA Wichita operates the Women’s Crisis Center, a 24-hour emergency shelter for individuals (primarily women and children) fleeing domestic violence, as well as several outreach and education programs in the community.

Legacy GardenWorks, the newest initiative of Legacy Ministries, is a unique youth employment program. It combines a supportive work environment with the chance for at-risk youth to build job skills working in an urban gardening operation. The youth in our program come from at-risk situations, including homelessness, drug and alcohol rehab, and non-traditional high schools.

American Revolutionary War Memorial’s mission is to organize, plan, design and construct a memorial in Veterans Memorial Park, Wichita Kansas, to honor those men and women of the thirteen colonies who struggled to gain their independence and create and establish the United States of America in the American Revolution, 1775 – 1787.

Head-to-Toe Hygiene Pantry
The Head-to-Toe Hygiene Pantry is a charitable organization that provides personal hygiene items to any who need them. The pantry is open the 3rd Saturday of every month from 9 AM to 11 AM. The Hygiene Pantry serves about 450 families each time it is open. University Congregational Church operates the Head-to-Toe Hygiene Pantry located at 1611 N. Mosley, Wichita, KS 67214.
YMCA National Gymnastics Championships
The Greater Wichita YMCA was selected to host the 77th YMCA National Gymnastics Championships June 23-27 2015! Top student gymnasts from across the nation will travel to Wichita this summer for the 77th YMCA National Gymnastics Championship. YMCA of the USA selected the Greater Wichita YMCA and the Wichita community to host this national tournament, which has been showcasing the talent and hard work of young athletes since it premiered in 1938.
Medical Service Bureau is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) agency, offering assistance to individuals and families who are low-income, live and/or work in Sedgwick County, uninsured and/or under insured and without resources to pay for prescription medication and vision care.

All too often, children have to be taken into temporary protective custody until either a healthy reintegration into the family can be accomplished or other longer term arrangements can be made. Sunshine Children’s Home provides a temporary residence for these children, closer to home, and without separating them from their siblings.

ICT S.O.S. is a project-based organization that acts as a liaison between specific local professional groups who work with trafficked youth and the Wichita volunteers who seek ways to be involved in finding solutions. Their vision is to create real and lasting change in Wichita through partnerships with local professional organizations, educating the community, and raising awareness of the issues of human trafficking in Wichita.

The mission of Dress for Success is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
Kidzcope provides the opportunity for children, teens and their families to learn lifelong coping skills after the death of a loved one. Kidzcope offers a variety of support groups, programs and workshops to help children and families struggling with the death of a loved one.
Rainbows United enhances the lives of children with special needs and their families by bringing together community resources and providing customized services. They provide many vital services for children with special needs, birth through age 21, and their families.
The Four-Legged Project
The Four-Legged Project improves the quality of police protection to communities and improves officer safety, both for the K-9 handler and the K-9 officer. The ballistic vets provided to police K-9’s are a small investment in comparison to the cost of potential medical bills for injury, and the cost of training and time placed in the police K-9.
