Robert Streif really likes to run. The 8-year-old’s infectious smile is equally matched by his seemingly endless amount of energy. Part of his autism is that he often runs without paying attention to where he’s going. His dad calls Robert a “runner” and fears he’ll dart out into traffic and be hit.
Not knowing where else to turn for help, the family called KAKE News. Local officials said they didn’t want to set a precedent that would force them to pay for anyone to get a sign, also saying that the money for additional signs wasn’t in the budget.
KAKE News shared the Streif’s story with Attorney Dustin DeVaughn and Attorney Richard James of the DeVaughn Injury Lawyers who felt compelled to pay for the Autistic Child sign the family wanted.
