Jeremy is driven by a desire to help clients navigate the complexities of the legal system. With a background that includes service at the highest levels of Kansas's judiciary and significant experience in insurance defense, he brings valuable perspective to DeVaughn James.
His legal career began at the Kansas Supreme Court, where he served as a law clerk to Chief Justice Lawton Nuss. This foundational experience provided him with unique insights into judicial decision-making, insights that continue to inform his practice today. Following this clerkship, he joined one of the nation's largest insurance defense firms, where his dedication and work ethic eventually earned him the role of managing partner of the firm's Kansas office.
After years of representing insurance companies, Jeremy chose to shift his focus to helping injured individuals, rather than corporations. This decision led him to DeVaughn James, where he now uses his extensive knowledge of how insurance companies (and their lawyers) operate to fight for the rights of injured clients and ensure they receive the compensation they deserve.
Outside the courtroom, Jeremy’s life revolves around family. He and his wife, Jaci, have four children: an adult daughter who serves her community as a first-grade teacher, two boys active in Boy Scouts and Tae Kwon Do, and a recently welcomed adoptive son. Their home is always bustling with activity, including three dogs—Cinnamon, Lyra, and Charlie—and a flock of chickens that keep the family on their toes.
Sunday mornings at their house have become a tradition, with Jeremy making about 60 pancakes every other week that his boys enjoy for breakfast throughout the week. In what little free time he has, you’ll likely find him in his wood shop, working on various remodeling projects and using his hands in a different way than he does in his legal practice.
Jeremy is licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma, as well as the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
