Mattie Seley

Mattie's Biography

Mattie is passionate about advocating for those who have been injured and is ready to stand up to the insurance companies.

Mattie grew up in Liberty, Missouri, the oldest of two. She was raised to love reading, writing, and history, as the daughter of a historical documentary film producer. She is also the first attorney in her large KC-based Hispanic family.

She has a close relationship with her family, and has seen firsthand how burdensome the medical system can be on those with illnesses and injuries. Her passion for advocacy started young, with her presence on her high school debate team leading her to discover her strengths and pushing her to become an attorney. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism in 2021 from the University of Kansas, minoring in Italian and history. While at the University of Kansas, Mattie was very involved in her sorority, Sigma Kappa, holding a leadership position for multiple years.

After college, Mattie returned to Kansas City, where she attended law school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. While at UMKC, Mattie balanced a rigorous schedule of work, school, and regular Mock Trial practices and competitions. She is capable of managing many tasks at once, while being able to devote her time and energy into each.

While at UMKC, Mattie also had the opportunity to intern for multiple Federal District Court judges. After winning the regional competition, she was on the National Trial team that competed against law schools across the US.

Upon graduating from UMKC and receiving her Juris Doctorate, she was inducted into the Order of Barrister’s, which recognizes graduating law students who demonstrate exceptional skill in trial advocacy.

When she is not advocating for her clients, Mattie enjoys reading, crafting, doing puzzles and watching movies. She loves spending time with friends and family, trying out new restaurants and having quality time together.
