Jamie's Biography
As a first-generation Hispanic attorney, Jamie Treto is no stranger to overcoming challenges and breaking barriers. Because of this, she is passionate about serving the Hispanic community and others facing difficult circumstances.
Raised in Garden City, Kansas, where her family still resides, Jamie later moved to Lawrence to earn her bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Kansas. During her undergraduate studies, she was an active member of the mock trial team where she learned to hone her skills in the court room.
Jamie went on to receive her Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law. During her time at KU Law, Jamie worked as a student attorney for the Legal Aid Clinic. There, she represented low-income adults and juveniles facing criminal charges. She also worked as a student attorney for the Paul E. Wilson Project for Innocence & Post-Conviction Remedies Clinic, representing state and federal prisoners in appellate and post-conviction litigation. Through these experiences, she discovered her passion for helping those in need.
When Jamie is not advocating for her clients, you will find her cooking up a meal, spending time with her cats and golden retriever named Bella, or seeking out new travel destinations.
Jamie is a fluent Spanish speaker and is licensed to practice law in Kansas.
